The Education Ministry signed an agreement with a global firm to improve the way technology is taught in Lebanese public primary schools, the National News Agency reported Tuesday. While in London for BETT, the world's largest educational technology exhibition at ExCel London, Education Minister Hassan Diab signed an agreement with the CEO of Promethean, Jim Marshal, to enhance and develop primary education across Lebanon. The exhibition will be attended by 100 education ministers from around the world. It begins Wednesday and will conclude Saturday. According to the agreement, the ministry will choose six primary schools in which Promethean's ActivBoards will be installed, giving students more interactive technology and real-time assessment tools in the classroom. The firm introduces its product as a way to "access a wide range of time-saving resources and rich content designed to simplify planning and transform lessons from one-way monologues to immersive, engaging experiences," according to the company's website. Diab said that it had taken him "a year and a half to introduce digital technology to pre-university education, especially in primary classes." He stressed the importance of developing digital education in Lebanon to keep up with the requirements of the 21st century.
