Career Education Corporation (CEC) (NASDAQ: CECO), a global provider of postsecondary education programs and services, today reinforced its commitment to compliant and ethical behavior across its campuses and offices, announcing that Teresa (Teri) Cotton Santos will join the company in the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.

Cotton Santos joins Career Education from Eli Lilly and Company, where she served as Assistant General Counsel, Litigation and Legal Compliance, managing all aspects of litigation and developing strategies for mitigating risk. Since joining Eli Lilly in 1998, she has held a variety of legal positions for the global pharmaceutical company, gaining valuable experience in another highly regulated sector. Earlier in her career, Cotton Santos served as a prosecutor in the Office of the Circuit Attorney for the City of St. Louis, where she tried criminal cases.

Cotton Santos graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College (Mass.) and later earned her juris doctor (J.D.) from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
