VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $173.6 million in its second quarter.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 83 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 3 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 14 cents per share.

The silver mining company posted revenue of $340.5 million in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $406.3 million.
