Nordstrom, Inc. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended July 30, 2022. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was USD 3,991 million compared to USD 3,565 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 4,095 million compared to USD 3,657 million a year ago. Net income was USD 126 million compared to USD 80 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.78 compared to USD 0.5 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.77 compared to USD 0.49 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was USD 7,458 million compared to USD 6,486 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 7,665 million compared to USD 6,666 million a year ago. Net income was USD 146 million compared to net loss of USD 86 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.91 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of USD 0.54 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.9 compared to diluted loss per share from continuing operations of USD 0.54 a year ago.
Nordstrom, Inc. is a fashion retailer that offers private-label merchandise for women, men, young adults, and children, with a focus on apparel, shoes, beauty, accessories and home goods. The Companyâs Retail segment aggregates two operating segments: Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. The Nordstrom segment consists of Nordstrom.com, Nordstrom United States stores and Nordstrom Local. The Nordstrom Rack segment consists of NordstromRack.com, Nordstrom Rack United States stores and last chance clearance stores. Nordstrom Rack purchases merchandise from many of the same vendors carried at Nordstrom and also serves as an outlet for clearance merchandise from the Nordstrom banner. In addition, its existing fleet of Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores enables pickup and returns of online orders and facilitates a broader assortment to its digital customers. The Company also has arrangements with agents and contract manufacturers to produce its private-brand merchandise.
