Newell Brands Inc. (NYSE:NWL) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Smith Mountain Industries, Inc. from Strength Capital for $100 million on December 12, 2016. The acquisition will be funded from cash on hand at the time of closing. In a related transaction, Newell Brands Inc. entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sistema Plastics Ltd. The transaction includes acquisition of WoodWick Candle brand which reported sales of $65 million for the year ending December 31, 2015. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017. Liz Cohen of Weber Shandwick acted as public relations advisor for Newell Brands.
