19/01/2017 Distinctions for MYTILINEOS Group in international sustainable development initiatives

For yet another year, in 2016 MYTILINEOS Group demonstrated its firm commitment to the application of the principles of corporate responsibility, by expanding its participation in international indices and initiatives on sustainable development, winning significant distinctions and steadily improving its results.

ESG Survey

With a total score of 78.1/100, MYTILINEOS Group was ranked first among all participating Greek companies and second best globally, in the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) survey of the Bloomberg organisation (official data from the Bloomberg platform dated 02/12/2016).

The Group disclosed its performance in the sustainable development domain on the organisation's platform for the publication of non-financial data by international Groups and companies, maintaining the top position in the ranking of Greek companies for the 5th consecutive year.

The Bloomberg Organisation is one of the major financial data providers worldwide and a reference source delivering financial news and information on sustainable development to banks, investment institutions, state organisations, companies and other bodies in more than 150 countries.

MYTILINEOS Group was given a "LEVEL B" ranking (the second best one) in the water management programme of the CDP global sustainable development initiative. This programme, in which MYTILINEOS Group participated for the first time on a voluntary basis, recorded the impact of the Group's activity on water and demonstrated that the Group has in place a concrete policy with clear targets and takes specific actions in the framework of rational water management and use.

The CDP initiative aims to change attitudes and raise awareness among enterprises, in order to prevent the hazardous climate change and protect the natural resources from the impacts of the enterprises' business activity.

MYTILINEOS Group was the only Greek company out of a total of 1,252 companies from all over the world to participate in the CDP's water programme in 2016.

Significant progress was also recorded in the results of the Group's participation in the UN Global Compact, which involves the adoption self- improvement action in four key domains - human resources, labour practices, the protection of the environment and anti-corruption. The level of coverage in the implementation of these actions in 2016 was significant, as it rose to 65.2%, up 10 percentage points from 2013 (the year in which the Group upgraded its participation to the Global Compact's Advanced Level.

The UN Global Compact is the largest global corporate responsibility initiative, endorsed by a network numbering thousands of companies and other interested organisations from over 150 countries and working to build and promote the social legitimacy of businesses and markets.

Finally, 2017 marks the Group's official participation in the European Pact 4 Youth, aiming to address structural problems related to the rising youth unemployment and achieve the overall alignment of the Group's sustainable development strategic directions with the new Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
