(Alliance News) - Maire Tecnimont Spa announced Wednesday that its subsidiary Nextchem, through its nitrogen technology licensor Stamicarbon, has been selected by Qinghai Yuntianhua International Fertilizer Co., Ltd to provide a process design package for the modernization of a urea plant with two production lines.

Each production line will have a capacity of 1,200 MTPD and will be located in Qinghai Province, China.

The proprietary MP Flash Design solution, part of the EVOLVE EnergyTM series, will significantly reduce steam utilization and optimize raw material use, reducing the plant's overall energy consumption by more than 25 percent.

In particular, the addition of a medium-pressure recirculation section maximizes energy savings without any modifications to existing high-pressure equipment. This results in a significant reduction in carbon footprint while generating savings in maintenance and operating expenses.

Alessandro Bernini, CEO of Maire, said, "With this project, we further increase our technology footprint in China, one of the world's largest and fastest growing agricultural markets, while confirming our position as a global technology leader in innovative solutions to support the reduction of the fertilizer industry's carbon footprint."
