PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works continues implementing the "MMK Tour. Virtual tour of MMK" project and has prepared a new video route.

In 2021, MMK completed the historical video tour series titled "The Victory Route", showing the Company's memorable production facilities related to Magnitogorsk's contribution to victory in the Great Patriotic War. In the year of the plant's 90th anniversary, we have started to create new video tour routes, where we will show and tell how Magnitogorsk's steel is born.

The first video route of the new series is devoted to Maly Kuybas metal mine. You have a unique opportunity to visit the quarry of this iron-ore deposit - one of the most important sources of raw materials for MMK - to learn how deep the ore is and how it is obtained, what the mineral surveyor does, and how much rock mass a BelAZ truck can carry at one time.

The Maly Kuybas deposit has been known about since the 18th century. Exploration work began in 1930, however, only in 1973, when Magnitnaya Mountain exhausted its resources, did ore production begin at Maly Kuybas. The quarry currently supplies the plant with about 2,5 million tonnes of ore annually. Overall, more than 95 million tonnes of ore have been mined here over the past decades.

Watching the video tour, you will find out many interesting facts about the mine, and most importantly, you will be able to see with your own eyes how the iron ore is extracted today. It is a visually spectacular process that not many guests of MMK are witness to, but with the help of "MMK Tour", this opportunity is available to the broadest audience. A virtual tour of the mine is accompanied by striking and imaginative infographics, thanks to which the technical details of the process are comprehendible to viewers of any age. The video is not only interesting but also succinct - the story of iron ore extraction at Maly Kuybas is told in just five minutes. You can find out more about the onward journey of the ore before it turns into metal in the next virtual tours of MMK.
