COURTLAND, Ala., Jan. 26, 2012 - Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has opened a Wellness Center for employees at its Courtland, Ala., facility. The center provides employees with a range of exercise equipment.

The center is part of the corporation's LM Healthworks program that integrates employee medical benefits coverage with health and wellness initiatives that provide employees with resources and information that they can use to make positive choices for their health, including on-site Wellness Centers at many locations. Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company opened a similar Wellness Center at its Huntsville facility in 2009.

"We developed our Courtland site into a world-class production facility by focusing on our infrastructure and our people," said John W. Holly, vice president, Missile Defense Systems, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. "This new Wellness Center is a further investment in our people that helps improve their quality of life, with the added benefit of increased productivity."

The Lockheed Martin Wellness Center in Courtland features treadmills, elliptical trainers, a rowing machine, stationary bicycles, free weights and weight training equipment in a 2,200-square-foot facility.

"In addition to contributing to the physical health of our employees, this facility promises to energize our minds, as well," said Kelly DeFazio, Courtland facility director, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems employs approximately 50 people at the Courtland facility. The facility currently produces missile target systems, including the extremely accurate intermediate-range ballistic missile target, the LV-2. Lockheed Martin also has selected the Courtland facility for future production of the Standard Missile-3 Block IIB (SM-3 IIB) as part of the bid that Lockheed Martin intends to submit for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency's upcoming product development phase for the SM-3 IIB. The facility's accomplishments since opening in 1994 also have included assembling the Boost Vehicle-Plus for the Missile Defense Agency's Ground-based Midcourse Defense system, producing 15 test vehicles for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system and producing case assemblies for Paveway III (BLU-109) munitions for the U.K. Ministry of Defense. The Courtland site long has been a national asset, starting in World War II when it was a U.S. Army Air Corps base.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 123,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The Corporation's net sales for 2011 were $46.5 billion.
