Mr. Long Yongtu, the former Vice Minister of Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) of China, and the Chief Negotiator for China's WTO accession, has been appointed as the chief consultant of the Council of the China Management Outstanding Award. Mr. Robert Xu, Vice Chairman of the Council, presented the letter of appointment to him.

Mr. Long Yongtu currently acts as Secretary General of G20 Research Center. From January, 1995 to September, 2001, as the Chief Negotiator, he led the 15-year-long negotiation and finally in November, 2001, China was accepted as a full WTO member. Mr. Long also won the world’s respect for his wisdom and charisma during the negotiation.

At the beginning of 2003, Mr. Long resigned from the position of the Vice Minister, Ministry of MOFTEC in order to concentrate on Bo'ao Forum for Asia (BFA). As Secretary General of this non-governmental organization, he has been dedicated to making BFA the most influential economic forum, a high-end communication platform and think tank for Asia-related issues to promote economic integration among Asian countries. In April, 2010, Mr. Long quitted from Secretary General and only acts as a consultation committee member of BFA since then. At the same time, he took up the position of Secretary General of G20 Research Center.

The Council of China Management Outstanding Award is established to research on the role of enterprises during China’s economic development, encourage the academies of management study in China to have deeper understanding on modern enterprises and learn from their best practices. Mr. Long support the mission of the Outstanding Award highly.

Robert said that as Mr. Long had been the Chief Negotiator of China’s WTO entry, his experience and insight on international and domestic economic management would definitely help the Council better comprehend the successful factors on management practice of Chinese enterprises, expand the international vision and promote the image of Chinese enterprise to the world.

The Award was set up in 2008, advocated by Mr. Cheng Siwei, the renowned economist and former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. Mr. Long Yongtu’s participation will greatly reinforce the presence of the Award to enhance the Council with a global vision.
