The Chemistry class Gadolin is located in Helsinki, Finland, and Kemira acts as one of the sponsors of the class. The chemistry class has been named after Johan Gadolin, the father of Finnish chemistry research. Thousands of school kids visit the class yearly to learn more about how chemistry shows in basic life. Also chemistry teachers are trained in the class.

Kemira employees and their children from age 7 to 12 were given the chance to visit the chemistry class on October 23, 2014. The visit included several experiments for the kids, such as sugar rainbows, loose slime, carbon dioxide bubbles and making plastic out of milk. The participants had fun and the instructors Jaakko and Minja were very professional and informative.

The visit was arranged as a part of Kemira's community involvement activities in Helsinki.

Pictures from the visit

Making plastic out of milk. There was a possibility to dye and mold the plastic as well.

Sugar rainbows were made by adding sugary liquids to a test tube.

Loose slime was a big hit and can be easily made at home as well! All you need is potato flour and water.

The making of carbon dioxide bubbles required steady hands but all of the participants were able to make great bubbles
