Through a pair of promotions, Kearny Bank has further enhanced its auditing department's capabilities. Little Falls resident Robert Kusant has been named Vice President / Audit Manager, while Amberly Hernandez of Newark is now Vice President / Senior Auditor. Both Kusant and Hernandez are based in the bank's Fairfield corporate office.

Kusant joined Kearny Bank in 2016 as Assistant Vice President / Senior Auditor, most recently holding the title of Vice President / Senior Auditor. His focus was on bringing outsourced audits in house and providing employee training on audit-related subjects along with co-implementing automated work papers solutions. In his new role, Kusant will lead and review audits conducted by Kearny Bank, and manage related projects from initial planning through completion. He recently received New Jersey Bankers Association Rising Star Award recognition and was identified as an Emerging Leader by the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds the CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), and CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certifications and has previous experience in Ernst & Young's Fraud Investigation Department. He holds a master's degree in accounting from Bloomsburg University.

Hernandez, who also joined Kearny Bank in 2016, holds both a bachelor's and an MBA from Caldwell University. As project leader of the bank's new SOX automated system, AuditBoard, she focused on initiatives to upgrade data utilization and reporting capabilities. In her new role, Hernandez - who is CAMS and COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) certified - leads audits, including remediation plan development and coordinating the efforts of internal bank teams. Prior to joining Kearny Bank, Hernandez - a member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists -- was with the Withum accounting firm.

'Our Auditing Department is a source of particular pride within Kearny Bank,' says Carmine DiSomma, 1st VP/Director of Internal Auditing. 'Now, by elevating both Robert and Amberly and expending their responsibilities, we're making the entire department even more effective.'
