FRANKFURT (Reuters) -JP Morgan has appointed former Goldman Sachs banker Alexander Mayer as the new head of its German and Austrian business, the U.S. investment bank said in a memo seen by Reuters on Wednesday.

Mayer previously spent 24 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as head of Investment Banking for Germany and Austria.

He will join JPM's Frankfurt office, which is the headquarters for its European business, later this year.

The U.S. bank's previous Germany and Austria chief Stefan Povaly will take on a new role as co-head of Global Corporate Banking EMEA with Marcus Hiseman, the memo adds.
