Jacobs and Mott MacDonald have been selected by Thames Water, the U.K.'s largest water and waste utility to support delivery of the company's Strategic Resource Options program. As program partner, the joint venture will provide program management and controls capability under an eight-year professional services framework agreement.

The Strategic Resource Options (SRO) framework supports critical water infrastructure necessary to deliver an additional gigaliter of water daily for customers across London and the Thames Valley. Thames Water predicts the needed demand within the next 50 years and includes the company's London Water Recycling, South East Strategic Reservoir Option, Severn to Thames Transfer, Thames to Affinity Transfer and Thames to Southern Transfer projects.

"Jacobs and Mott MacDonald bring major program management capability across the entire water cycle and project lifecycle to support these complex projects," says Jacobs Senior Vice President Kate Kenny. "As program partner, we're focused on helping Thames Water deliver critical, integrated water management and reuse solutions that protect communities and the environment for the long term."

Jacobs, a global leader in water reuse has been involved in the early stages of the London Recycling (Reuse) Program, a continuation of the firm's pioneering innovative methods to clean water and advance public acceptance of recycled water for decades. Jacobs and Mott MacDonald understand the need and basis of design for these necessary investments and assisted in the early development of the SROs. Jacobs and Mott MacDonald are also serving as technical partner on the SRO framework.

Mott MacDonald Managing Director UK & Europe Richard Risdon says: "Our appointment to this framework builds on a successful partnership with Jacobs which has been developed during the early stages of the SROs. Together, we have an impressive track record of delivering industry leading services to the water sector. We're delighted to continue providing support to Thames Water and working together to help shape the future of the UK's water security."

With more than 50 years of major program management experience from complex infrastructure and transformation programs across multiple sectors globally, Jacobs deploys the people, processes and digital solutions to enable successful program delivery. Ranked № 1 on Engineering News-Record (ENR)'s 2023 Top 50 Program Management Firms for the third consecutive year, Jacobs supports major programs such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel and Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance in the U.K., the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) Grand Central Madison program in New York, and New Zealand's Central Interceptor, a supersized wastewater tunnel.
