Imerys enlarges its specialty offering in high-purity zirconia with the acquisition of a leading producer in China
Imerys has signed an agreement to buy Zhejiang Zr-Valley Science & Technology Co, a leading producer of zirconium oxychloride and high-purity zirconia in China. This company operates a research center and a manufacturing plant with a revenue of ca. CNY220 million (€29 million) and 460 employees.
Following this deal, Imerys, which is the world leader in fused zirconia, will extend its range of technologies and processes, and enlarge its zirconia specialty offering, in particular to new products based on high-purity zirconia for advanced ceramics (3D-pigments, electronics,…).
The closing of this transaction is expected during the third quarter of 2017. This business will be consolidated in the Fused Minerals division, which is part of the High Resistance Minerals business group.
