Job Summary: FLYHT is looking for a high performing technical leader within our Customer Engineering team; a team of engineers, software developers and testers who configure and support FLYHT's real time aircraft data monitoring and Satcom products. The products extract and process information from aircraft data buses in real time. This information is used to construct and deliver reports to customers via satellite and ground-based systems to dramatically improve their situational awareness on the ground.

This position is ideal for someone who has experience in software development and configuration in a support, development and service environment. The successful candidate will need to quickly learn FLYHT's software development, configuration, testing and delivery practices while becoming an effective team leader. He/she is a high performing technical resource who is result driven and works exceptionally well with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Manager Customer Support to plan, coordinate and execute delivery of product and services in the most efficient manner
  • Work closely with the Manager Embedded Software Development and Manager Enterprise Software Development to coordinate V&V activities and transition product from development to delivery and support
  • Execute software development and release life cycle as an effective team member
  • Responsible for 24/7 technical support of FLYHT's products and services to ensure timely response to customer and internal infrastructure issues
  • Escalate voice of the customer and product deficiencies to Product Management and Product Engineering
  • Provide oversight, mentorship and support to the customer engineering and test team while creating an enjoyable work environment
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure that the team is sufficiently challenged and maintain employee satisfaction
  • Report on data metrics and challenge the team to continuously improve results with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction while supporting the need to grow recurring revenue
  • Develop and implement an initial and recurring training programs
  • Document and maintain process, procedures and work instructions
  • Maintain compliance with AS9100 certification requirements
  • After hours on-call support as required

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Experience with C, Java, SQL, DB2, C++, C# , Bash scripting
  • Familiar with the serial protocols and data transfer concepts
  • Experience in system or unit level testing, creating test plans and/or test procedures as per requirements
  • Experience working in Agile environment

Assets

  • Embedded software development experience
  • Knowledge of avionic software development guidelines (DO-178, DO-278)
  • Understanding of Flight Manuals, Performance Software and other Publications (AFM, AMM, FCOM, QRH, AOM, FPCCM, CAFM, CIFP, SCAPs, EFBs, MMEL, DDG, etc)
  • Technical writing skills
  • General understanding of aircraft systems and maintenance
  • Aircraft Data Busses- ARINC 717, 429, ASCB, MIL-STD-1553 etc.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in aerospace engineering or computer science with aerospace and/or airline industry experience
  • Working in AS9001 environment experience
  • Toyota Way environment experience
