Bangkok - The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) awarded Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited with its 'Gold Level' recognition for corporate social responsibility.

Davies (right), presented the 2016 AMCHAM Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Recognition Gold Level award as well as the Creative Partnership designation, to Mr. Mongkolnimit Auacherdkul (left), Director and Public and Government Affairs Manager, Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited. The presentation ceremony took place at the Conrad Bangkok Hotel.

The AMCHAM CSR Excellence (ACE) program was established to raise corporate social responsibility commitment, share best practices, and provide recognition to AMCHAM members who demonstrate an understanding of the important linkages between business operations and society. The program recognizes companies that conduct business in a way that creates long-term economic and social value. Esso was recognized with Gold Level status for having received the ACE award for 7 consecutive years. In addition, the Creative Partnership designation, a joint recognition by AMCHAM and the U.S. Embassy, awards AMCHAM members that employ creative or innovative approaches to corporate social responsibility while also building U.S.-Thai partnerships.

Esso's corporate social responsibility activities in 2016 focused on core programs involving education, community development, royal projects, and art and culture. We provided scholarships to students in engineering, science, technology, and energy through Esso-Rattanakosin Bicentennial Scholarships and a vocational science contest for scientific innovations. We also joined Mae Fah Luang University and the Border Patrol Police in the northern Chiangrai province to provide sustainable healthcare and sanitation programs for local communities. We supported royal projects focused on the conservation of mangrove forests and aquatic wildlife at the Kung Krabaen Bay royal development study center. We also supported Her Majesty the Queen's initiative to increase awareness of local handicrafts and the King's patronage project on the National Exhibition of Arts, aimed at increasing recognition of Thai art.
