Public Service Commission approves Entergy Mississippi's plan to keep bills stable during summer mon

JACKSON, Miss. - The Mississippi Public Service Commission has approved Entergy Mississippi's plan to decrease energy rates and help keep bills stable for customers. The plan, taking effect during the July billing cycle, comes as the anticipated summer heat wave will cause customers to increase their energy usage. The typical residential customer using 1,000 kWh per month will see a bill decrease of $2.07 beginning in July.

Despite the increased costs required to generate power, maintain infrastructure and provide electrical service, Entergy Mississippi's plan offsets those costs and ensures rates remain as flat as possible, while customers' energy use is at its highest.

"We work hard to safely provide quality and reliable electricity to all our customers," said Haley Fisackerly, Entergy Mississippi president and CEO. "As our customers face rising costs on groceries and other bills, we're doing what we can to help keep their energy bills stable. We hope this savings will help customers feel some relief from the heat and in their wallets at a time when they need it most."

Entergy Mississippi's residential rates continue to be among the lowest in the nation, and rates have grown more slowly than the cost of other goods since 2005. In nearly two decades, Entergy Mississippi's residential rates have increased by 44%; while according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the cost of bread and eggs have risen by 88% and 130%, respectively.
