John Cusack adds 'Numbers' thriller

John Cusack has come aboard "The Numbers Station" opposite Malin Akerman, with Kasper Barfoed ("The Candidate") directing the action thriller.

Lensing will start in mid-November. Producers are Furst Film's Sean and Bryan Furst ("Daybreakers") and Nigel Thomas from Matador Pictures with Chris Fenton and Chris Cowles exec producing. Content will be selling the film at the upcoming American Film Market.

Cusack plays a disgraced black-ops agent tasked with a deadend job of protecting a code operator for an isolated covert CIA broadcast station played by Akerman. Script is by F. Scott Frazier.

Cusack's upcoming titles include "The Paperboy," "Frozen Ground" and "The Raven." Akerman will next be seen in "Rock of Ages."

Cusack's deal was negotiated by CAA and Steve Burkow of Ziffren Brittenham.
