CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced that 11 insurance and self-insured organizations received awards for innovation and leadership in the areas of technology and quality enhancements at CSC's 2011 Connect for Property and Casualty Conference. The company's client community nominated and selected the winning companies, which were honored during the conference in September.

Nearly 700 industry professionals attended the fall conference in Nashville, Tenn. CSC recorded one of the largest participation rates since the awards program was established, with a 42-percent increase in carrier voting.

Builders Mutual Insurance Company, Raleigh, N.C., received the notable Connect Award, which honors one organization for outstanding innovation and collaboration across all five award categories: Industry Leadership, Innovation Community, Project Management Leadership, Quality Management Leadership and Technical Excellence. The company was chosen for its successful completion of a large POINT IN policy administration system migration for commercial lines, while also implementing Agency Link, agency portal software and Advanced Claims, an end-to-end claims management system.

"Builders Mutual is proud to accept this award from our peers recognizing our ongoing commitment to increase productivity and improve service," said Graeme Boddy, chief information officer, Builders Mutual. "As a collaborator in many of our technology initiatives, CSC provides the innovative products, services and enhancements necessary to streamline long-established processes and help our business reach new heights."

Safety Insurance Group received the Industry Leadership Award for enhancing Exceed's Claims Desktop technology to expedite the carrier's catastrophe claims process. The enhancement taps into a storm forecasting tool and accesses policy administration data, enabling immediate activation of catastrophe claims, reducing claims processing times and lowering administrative costs.

The Innovation Community Award was presented to North Carolina Farm Bureau, Raleigh, N.C., for its sponsorship of enhancements to Exceed Claims. Among the enhancements were automated first notice of loss workflow, which provides a configurable workflow, helping to reduce data entry errors and increase claims productivity; Multiple Adjuster Assignment, which streamlines the process of assigning and managing claims, improving control for claims supervisors; and Salvage Contracts and Calculations, which maintains vendor information, including comparative contracts and costs. North Carolina Farm Bureau also sponsored multiple enhancements for Exceed, Disbursements, POINT IN and Agency Link.

Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance Company, Enumclaw, Wash., won the Project Management Leadership Award for using POINT IN's suite of products to manage implementations for multiple lines of business. The new additions facilitated policy renewal processing for all commercial lines in four states in 2011. In conjunction with the major project, Mutual of Enumclaw introduced several new lines of business.

Chubb Services Corporation, Warren, N.J., won the Quality Management Leadership Award for establishing a test team, comprising Chubb and CSC experts, to improve claims response times and resolution processes using RISKMASTER. Chubb was the first CSC client to deploy the newest release of CSC's risk and claims management offering.

Ohio Mutual Insurance Group, Bucyrus, Ohio, won the Technical Excellence Award for writing and implementing an automated installation tool to apply Continuous Delivery Release files, critical software release upgrades, as they are received. The tool provides a foundation to handle standard and specific processes required for these files, without manual intervention.

In addition, CSC recognized clients for showing leadership, innovation and collaboration in each of the following areas: Agency Link (Preferred Managing Agency), Business Process Outsourcing (Florida Peninsula Insurance Company), Carrier Claims (Builders Mutual), Exceed (Tennessee Farmers Insurance), POINT IN (Brethren Mutual Insurance Company), RISKMASTER (Chubb Services Corporation), Series II (Safety Insurance Group) and WikonnecT, CSC's social networking site (Brad Rall of Cumberland Insurance Group -- individual award; North Carolina Farm Bureau -- company award).

"We applaud the award-winning organizations for their successes and the recognition they earned from their peers," said Jeffery Schwalk, president of CSC's Property and Casualty Insurance Division. "CSC values our client community's dedication to sharing best practices and leading business transformation through creative and cost-effective technology and service offerings."
