Chubu Electric Power announces that we have decided to construct the Nishimura Hydroelectric Power Station ("the station") in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, utilizing the runoff from the Maze River in the Kiso River system.

The station is a run-of-the-river type (Note) hydroelectric power plant with a generation output of 1,930 kW, utilizing the unused head between the Nishimura Dam and the Iwaya Dam, which are already in place.
The Seto 2nd Hydroelectric Power Station ("Seto II ") takes water from the Maze River and discharges it into the Hida River, but when the Maze and Hida Rivers have high flows, the water is not taken but stored in the Iwaya Dam.
By diverting the water pipeline of Seto II and discharging the water into the Iwaya Dam located downstream, the station will make effective use of water that has not been utilized at Seto II.

(Note) A method that uses flowing water of river directly for power generation without storing it in a dam.

We will continue to develop the station in consideration of the natural environment and with the understanding and cooperation of the local community and other related parties, aiming to start construction in FY2024 and operation in FY2027.

The Chubu Electric Power Group has positioned renewable energy as one of its main power sources that will contribute to achieving a carbon-free society as well as enhancing energy self-sufficiency, and we will continue active development in order to achieve our goal of "an expansion over 3.2 million kW through ownership, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy plants by around 2030".
