CESC Limited has commissioned a solar power plant of 18 MW capacity in Madurai in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. According to a press release of CESC, with the commissioning of the fourth renewable power project, the company has strengthened its thrust on diversifying its energy mix and aims to touch the overall energy capacity of 113 MW by the end of 2016 fiscal. CESC has entered into a long-term (25 years) power purchase agreement with TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corp).

The project, which includes a 15-km long transmission line, has been over within 6 months.
