TORONTO, Jan. 25, 2012/CNW/ - Swimming and safety in the water are an important part of Canadian kids' lives. Yet, 1 in 3 Canadian families cannot afford to enrol their kids in sport and recreation programs*. Canadian Tire Jumpstart helps break down this financial barrier and works with communities to create programs that give kids the chance to play.
To help make this possible, the Government of Canadahas once again shown their commitment to Jumpstart with a generous donation of $1,000,000. This donation will help fund programs, such as the Jumpstart Swim Development program in partnership with the City of Brampton and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. The swimming program is aimed at teaching drowning prevention and entry level swimming skills to over 1,200 new Canadians in Brampton. The donation will take place during a demonstration of this unique program.
