Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. reported unaudited earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended December 2, 2017. For the quarter, net sales were $361,172,000 against $253,544,000 a year ago. Operating loss was $40,464,000 against $38,043,000 a year ago. Loss before income taxes and non-controlling interest was $40,093,000 against $36,811,000 a year ago. Loss before income taxes attributable to shareholders of the company was $26,136,000 against income of $23,010,000 a year ago. Net loss per basic and diluted share was $0.54 against $0.48 per diluted share a year ago.
For six months, net sales were $624,017,000 against $493,389,000 a year ago. Operating loss was $64,842,000 against $88,608,000 a year ago. The Company sells most of its shell eggs in the southwestern, mid-western and mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. Its subsidiaries include American Egg Products, LLC located in Georgia and Texas Egg Products, LLC.
