Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. is reportedly planning to make an offer to acquire Life Technologies Corporation, three sources familiar with the matter said. Thermo Fisher is reportedly one of the parties that have held discussions with Life Technologies about a potential deal, the sources spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks are confidential. The private equity companies reportedly looking to acquire Life Technologies include Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

(KKR), The Blackstone Group LP, Bain Capital, LLC and TPG Capital, L.P. the talks are at an early stage and may not lead to a transaction, the sources said. Reuters reported that Thermo Fisher and Life Technologies declined to comment while the representatives of the private equity firms declined to comment or did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
