PORTLAND, OR - KGW NewsChannel 8 was named Television Station of the Year by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters at its annual conference held Saturday, September 17, 2011. The station has held the title for eight of the last nine years. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding journalism and public service throughout the entire year.

KGW NewsChannel 8 also captured ten “Awards of Excellence,” more than double the wins of all other Portland television stations combined. Every area of the station’s work was recognized, including best overall newscast, reporting, special programming, photography, promotion, and public service.  KGW NewsChannel 8’s sports director, Michael Berk, earned the title of Television Sports Announcer of the Year.
