• The awards recognise cases of collaboration between companies and scaleups (startups with a degree of development such that they have reference companies as customers) for their disruptive solutions of strategic innovation and digital transformation.
  • All retail premises with a Bankia POS terminal (point of sale) can benefit from this solution

Bankia and Tickendy, an accelerated startup in the Bankia Fintech by Innsomnia programme, have been awarded the 'Comprendedor Awards' of the Empresa y Sociedad Foundation for their solution to digitize purchase receipts for retail premises.

This solution digitises the last element of the purchase process that was still to be carried out, i.e. the receipt. With this agreement, all businesses with Bankia's POS terminals will benefit from this proposal.

The Tickendy app is the first platform that enables establishments to digitise purchase receipts and store them on the user's mobile app using NFC technology.

With this initiative, customers of retail premises, instead of receiving a printed purchase receipt, will receive a digital receipt.

This initiative achieves three objectives. The first, environmental, since there is a reduction in the use of paper. The second, health-wise, since no physical contact helps to reduce the risk of contagion of COVID-19. And a third objective, of marketing related to the exploitation of data, since the retail premises acquires improved knowledge regarding the consumption habits of their customers: what they buy, how often, at what times ...

For the end user, Tickendy means not accumulating printed receipts, having all their purchases information on the mobile phone, while having real control over their expenses and managing their personal finances.

'We are very pleased with the recognition received by the Empresa y Sociedad Foundation for the work carried out jointly with Tickendy to offer businesses a safe, environmental friendly and digital alternative for purchase receipts, which also reduces costs, allowing to obtain better knowledge of the consumer habits of the end customers', says Raquel Sánchez Buendía, Bankia's Director of Fintech and Innovation Research.

The 'Comprendedor Awards' recognise cases of collaboration between companies and scaleups (startups with a degree of development such that they have reference companies as customers) for their disruptive solutions of strategic innovation and digital transformation, as well as for its demonstration effect potential. In the 2020 edition they had six categories and the Bankia and Tickendy solution won in the SME category.

Tickendy was one of the 17 accelerated startups in the 5th edition of Bankia Fintech by Innsomnia, the largest open innovation programme in Spain, which ended last September. This edition received 173 applications from startups interested in taking part, which represented record participation, with an increase of 38% compared to the previous edition

Currently, the 6th edition of the programme is being developed, in which more than 200 startups have registered, in which 40% of the proposals have been international, originating from 28 countries around the world.
