Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, recently opened 3 new sports fields in South A'Sharqiyah in line with the bank's commitment to community development and promoting Oman as a sporting nation. The hand over ceremonies were attended by Salim Bin Rashid Al Shidi, Regional Manager - South A'Sharqiyah, Bank Muscat. The opening of the Al-Jawabi Sports team's field from the Wilayat of Ja'alan Bani Bu Ali was done in the presence of Yusuf Bin Abdullah Al Kasbi, the team's Chairman and a number of team officials.

The opening of the Al Qahwan Sports field in the Wilayat of Ja'alan Bani Bu Hasan was attended by Saleh Ali Saif Al Dar'i, the team's Chairman, while the opening of the Hadri Blad Sports stadium in the Wilayat of Al Kamil Wa Al Wafi was held in the presence of Nasser bin Hamad Al-Rashdi, the team's Chairman. Project completion certificates were handed over to the respective teams at all the events, which were organised in compliance with Covid-19 norms. The scope of support under the Green Sports programme included installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, floodlighting and water-desalination systems. The opening of the three sports fields are a pointer to the success of the bank's longest running corporate social responsibility and sustainability programme.

On the occasion, Salim Bin Rashid Al Shidi, Regional Manager - South A'Sharqiyah, Bank Muscat, said: 'We congratulate all the teams for the successful opening of these Green Sports fields, which will help in creating more green spaces and also protect our environment. With the latest openings, the bank has handed over 114 Green Sports fields to teams across different governorates in the Sultanate. Bank Muscat will be announcing the names of a new set of beneficiaries for this year, thereby continuing to build upon its flagship initiatives and programmes in the field of corporate social responsibility.'

The number of beneficiaries till end-2020 reached 123 sports teams spread across the length and breadth of the Sultanate, of which 114 Green Sports fields have been handed over to the respective teams. Registration for the 2021 programme was closed recently and saw the participation of a large number of applicants. The bank will announce the names of the new beneficiaries from across Oman later this year to continue its strategy of public-private participation in building an excellent sports infrastructure across Oman and helping develop Omani sports talent.
