AMI, a global leader in powering, managing and securing the world's connected digital infrastructure through its BIOS, BMC and security solutions, is pleased to announce the release of a new MegaRAC OSP Development Kit for the AST2600 Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) from ASPEED Technology.

The MegaRAC OSP Development Kit for the AST2600 BMC features hardware, tutorials, and access to MegaRAC OSP Open BMC firmware to help developers and engineers gain experience in sensor porting, management technologies such as Serial over LAN (SOL) and UART, and virtual media (vMedia). This complete kit allows OEM and ODM customers to begin immediate development and training projects using the MegaRAC OSP BMC Firmware with the AST2600 BMC from ASPEED Technology.

MegaRAC OSP is a suite of firmware, software, tools, utilities and services for BMC management based on Open BMC firmware. It features an extensible, open-architecture development framework and a robust 'common core' concept to provide a stable and highly managed source code base for a complete Service Processor solution suitable for a wide variety of product deployments.

The hardware component of the MegaRAC OSP Development Kit includes the ASPEED AST2600 Remote Management Server Processor, a Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ single-board host computer, a Series 997 Sensor Board from AMI and a cooling fan. The Series 997 Sensor Board from AMI included in the kit is designed to mimic the sensors that are typically found on data center server platforms, allowing developers to immerse themselves in the protocols used for BMC communication and management.

'We are excited to offer the MegaRAC OSP Development Kit to our customers as an all-inclusive and easy way for firmware engineers to become familiar with sensor porting and related development technologies on the ASPEED AST2600 with MegaRAC OSP Firmware. We believe that it will accelerate the learning curve for those wishing to learn more about BMC management and provide a stable platform for the development of robust projects,' said Sanjoy Maity, Chief Executive Officer of AMI.
