ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) (www.adc.com) today announced that its ADC Foundation has made donations of nearly $700,000 for the first half of this year to a broad range of programs in global communities where the company does business. These programs include disaster relief, non-profit technical assistance, engineering education, and community programs in India.

?ADC has a strong commitment to the communities it serves,? said Robert E. Switz, chairman, president and CEO for ADC and also chairman of the ADC Foundation. ?We believe these contributions through the foundation are an effective way to demonstrate our belief in good corporate citizenship. By supporting our community partners and organizations, we provide valuable resources in many local communities worldwide where ADC employees live and work.?

Major projects supported so far this year include:

  • Disaster Relief – Working through the Red Cross, ADC's Foundation provided financial aid for humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti and Chile after the earthquake destruction in those countries. This aid was a combination of donations and matching grants for individual employee gifts.
  • Non-Profit Technical Assistance – Because there is a division between individuals and organizations who have computer skills and access to the Internet and those who don't, ADC's Foundation has partnered with non-profit technical assistance organizations to support and fund ?digital inclusion? efforts in the Twin Cities.
  • Engineering Education – ADC's Foundation also is focused on strengthening local education programs, especially those in mathematics and science from grade school through engineering education at the university level. Recent engineering scholarships have been given to the University of Texas, El Paso, and New Mexico State University, Las Cruces.
  • Community Programs in India – ADC's Foundation works with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in Bangalore to provide training for individuals with physical and visual disabilities. It also offers employment for program graduates at its network equipment assembly facility in this city.

The ADC Foundation, established in 1999, supports employee giving and volunteerism and makes charitable grants in communities in the U.S. and six other countries where ADC does business. Grant-making by the ADC Foundation is strategically aligned with the company's interests by a focus on mathematics and science education, and on information and communications technology assistance for nonprofit organizations.
