New Contract Award for BOAS Technical Refresh and Backup ARTAS Support

Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 13 October 2021- Adacel Technologies Limited (Adacel), an industry leader in advanced air traffic management solutions and simulation and training systems, announces a new contract with Avinor to upgrade its Bodø Oceanic ATM System (BOAS) with a technical refresh and backup support for the Air Traffic Management Surveillance Tracker and Server (ARTAS).

The operating system and the entire BOAS supporting software will be updated to operate in a virtual environment providing numerous benefits for the long-term support and flexibility of the system. Additional support for ARTAS for added system redundancy will also be provided as part of the new contract.

The new BOAS Technical Refresh and Backup ARTAS Support contract is valued at approximately US$1.0 million. Adacel will perform this contract throughout FY2022, with an estimated completion in FY2023.

The Aurora-based Bodø Oceanic ATM System was commissioned in 2015, successfully managing the growing traffic in the Bodø Oceanic Flight Information Region (OFIR) and providing improved service to airspace users and interaction with adjacent ANSPs. In 2017, BOAS successfully underwent its first major upgrade to integrate ARTAS for additional surveillance data to further enhance the surveillance tools available to air traffic controllers.
