Abengoa, S. A won a contract to build and operate the 924-megawatt Norte III combined cycle plant project in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The total contract is valued at $1.55 billion, which would bring Abengoa's estimated backlog for its engineering and construction division to around EUR 9.3 billion. Abengoa will be responsible for the engineering, design and construction of the project, as well as its subsequent operation and maintenance for a 25-year period.

The company expects to complete the plant's construction within 30 months.
