U.S. consumer spending rose by 0.2% in May 2024 compared with April, on income growth of 0.5% month-on-month, according to monthly data from the Commerce Department.

The Commerce Department adds that household savings stood at $806.1 billion, and that the savings rate, i.e. household savings as a percentage of disposable income, was 3.9% last month.
