The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on
Tuesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie was trading 0% higher at C$1.3653 to the
greenback, or 73.24 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of
1.3632 to 1.368.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 6.7
basis points to 3.399%. The yield on similar U.S. government
benchmark debt fell to 4.2437%.
U.S. August crude futures fell 19 cents to $81.44 a
barrel on Tuesday.
Canada's annual inflation rate accelerated to 2.9% in May,  up
from 2.7% in April, Statistics Canada said. Analysts polled by
Reuters had expected an annual rate of 2.6%
