CHANGE OF BOOK CLOSURE PERIOD IN RELATION TO

EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

References are made to the circular of Xinhua News Media Holdings Limited (the "Company") dated 26 January 2018 in relation to an extraordinary general meeting of the Company to be held on 12 February 2018 (the "Circular") and the notice of the extraordinary general meeting of the Company dated 26 February 2018 (the "Notice of EGM").

As disclosed in the Circular and the Notice of EGM, the register of members of the Company will be closed from 7 February 2018 to 12 February 2018, both days inclusive, during which period no transfer of shares of the Company will be registered.

The Company would like to announce that the original period of closure of register of members of the Company for the purpose of determining qualification of shareholders to attend and vote at the extraordinary general meeting of the Company will be changed from 7

February 2018 to 12 February 2018, both days inclusive, to the period between 9 February 2018 to 12 February 2018, both days inclusive, during which period no transfer of shares of the Company will be registered.

To be qualified for attending and voting at the forthcoming extraordinary general meeting of the Company to be held on 12 February 2018, all share transfer documents must be lodged with the Company's Branch Share Registrar in Hong Kong, Tricor Tengis Limited at Level 22, Hopewell Centre. 183 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong, for registration not later than 4:30 p.m. on 8 February 2018 instead of 6 February 2018 as stated in the Notice of EGM.
