WRAY, Colo., Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Wray Community Hospital and Clinic has deployed Tru-D SmartUVC to keep patients and staff safe from germs and hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). Wray, a 15-bed special district critical access hospital, was built in 1995, featuring all new furnishings and state-of-the-art equipment. Services include a swing bed program, 24-hour emergency care, 24-hour anesthesia services, a full-time board-certified surgeon and various wellness programs.

"Having Tru-D in our facility helps ensure we are providing the safest environment possible for our patients and staff," said Jennifer Kramer, Chief Clinical Officer of Wray Community Hospital. "We are consistently looking for proactive measures that we can take to remain on the leading-edge of technology and patient safety. Our environmental staff does an excellent job with cleaning our facility, but Tru-D will ensure that no germs or pathogens are left behind."

Tru-D pioneered the UVC disinfection industry which has grown exponentially in recent years. Used in conjunction with manual cleaning, Tru-D is deployed after the environmental services staff cleans the room with traditional protocols. Activated by a remote control outside the room, Tru-D then administers one cycle of UVC energy from one, central placement in the room. Once the cycle is complete, the operator is notified via audio and/or text message that Tru-D can be moved to the next room.

"Tru-D is on a mission to eradicate HAIs to make health care facilities safer for every patient who walks through the door," said Chuck Dunn CEO and President of Tru-D SmartUVC. "Backed by the industry's leading researchers and health care facilities, Tru-D takes pride in the research and science behind out product."

Tru-D's technology has been validated by more than a dozen independent studies including the first and only randomized clinical trial on UVC disinfection. The Benefits of Enhanced Total Room-Disinfection (BETR-D) study proved that Tru-D can reduce the risk of acquisition and infection of four major superbugs by a cumulative 30 percent among patients admitted to the same room. Conducted throughout nine hospitals in the Duke Infection Control Outreach Network, the CDC-funded BETR-D study is the most comprehensive study on UVC disinfection to date.
