New orders for manufactured goods in the U.S. increased 1.6% on month in November after rising by a revised 1.2% in October, data from the Commerce Department show. The rise is below the 1.7% increase forecast by economists polled by The Wall Street Journal. New orders for manufactured durable goods increased 2.6%, up from the preliminary estimate of a 2.5% rise and after registering a 0.1% increase in October. The U.S. manufacturing sector is experiencing strong demand for goods, but firms are struggling with labor and raw-materials shortages and can't keep up with orders. (maria.martinez@wsj.com)
