U.S. Sen. Tim Scott will tour Charleston Charter School for Math & Science and speak to a student assembly in celebration of the many educational options available to South Carolina students.

The school tour will begin at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23 as part of National School Choice Week. The Palmetto Promise Institute and the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina are organizing the event.

Senator Scott has personally experienced the importance of the right educational fit; he attended four schools before fourth grade and met a mentor who taught him the value of education and turned his future around. Today, Sen. Scott is one of the Senate’s most vocal advocates for school choice.

More than 800 people are expected to attend, including parents, students, and teachers of CCSMS and the general public.

“A quality education is the true equalizer that can help children from all walks of life achieve their dreams and aspirations,” said Sen. Tim Scott. “In the end, it goes beyond the labels of public, private, vocational, or charter school, and it is about helping our students find an educational track that best fits their needs.”
