Ustocktrade today launched the world's first consumer-friendly stock trading network that helps people trade with a purpose. The easy-to-use site puts professional-level trading tools into the hands of every individual who has ever been interested in trading stocks and aims to remove the traditional barriers of entry to stock trading, including cost, complexity and confusing language. The organization was founded to support a unique philanthropic initiative, The Cainan Foundation, whose mission is to educate the world's most disadvantaged children.

The network was developed by technology pioneer Tony Weeresinghe, who has developed some of the world's most robust equity trading systems, including the one currently used by the London Stock Exchange Group. Ustocktrade operates as an Alternative Trading System (ATS), which enables the organization to match orders internally between its users, providing fast and direct processing.

The network is easy and affordable, requiring membership fees of only $1 per month and charging just $1 per trade. There is also no minimum balance required. Additional features of the site include:

  • Simple interface that provides detailed real-time reports and access to research, allowing users to both watch and trade stocks on the same screen;
  • Professional-style strategies, including limit and market orders, and the ability to set price alerts, and stop loss strategies with automatic strategy tools;
  • Training simulator, Ustocktrain, that allows users to use virtual cash to practice trading, using real-time market data; and
  • Optimization for universal access, especially mobile, so users can access the site from iOS or any mobile browsers.

A Sri Lankan native, Weeresinghe designed Ustocktrade's business model so profits of the network will directly support the funding of The Cainan Foundation, which also launched today. The foundation is dedicated to building self-sustaining boarding schools and providing a first-rate education to vulnerable and disadvantaged children throughout the world.

"In the on-demand economy, companies like Uber have developed a platform that removes the middleman and allows people to interact amongst themselves because it's faster, easier and more efficient. Ustocktrade is the first retail stock trading network that eliminates unnecessary stock broker involvement so trading can be seamless and happen directly between members of our community," said Weeresinghe. "Our goal is to help society increase their wealth by making it easier for people with little or no experience in investing to learn and execute trades. Furthermore, we believe good business is about making a difference, and we will make a difference with The Cainan Foundation.”
