Retail trade turnover growth in November 2013

Real turnover growth of 4.2%

Neuchâtel, 15.01.2014 (FSO) - According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), real turnover in the retail sector adjusted for sales days and holidays rose by 4.2% in November 2013 compared with November 2012 (in nominal terms +3.3%). Real, seasonally adjusted turnover in the retail sector rose by 1.9% in November 2013 compared with October 2013 (in nominal terms +2.1%).


Year-on-year change (excluding fuel)
In November 2013, the retail sector adjusted for sales days and holidays showed an increase in real turnover of 3.9% compared with November 2012 (in nominal terms +3.0%). Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase in real turnover of 3.0% (in nominal terms +4.7%). The non-food sector registered positive growth of 4.0% (in nominal terms +2.0%).

Month-on-month change (excluding fuel)
Excluding fuel, the retail sector showed a seasonally adjusted increase in real turnover of 1.8% (in nominal terms +2.0%) compared with October 2013. Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase of 2.9% (in nominal terms +3.5%). The non-food sector showed positive growth of 1.6% (in nominal terms +1.3%).
