State Government of Western Australia : Goldfields-Esperance Community Chest funding

• $505,538 invested into 16 locally driven projects in Goldfields-Esperance

Regional Development Minister Terry Redman has today announced the successful grant recipients of the 2017 Goldfields-Esperance region's Community Chest Fund.

The Community Chest Fund provides voluntary organisations, schools and community groups with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects.

Mr Redman said hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia had significantly benefited from the fund in recent years.

'Included in this round of funding is $50,000 to the Shire of Leonora to fund their 2017 Leonora Golden Gift event and $40,000 to the Shire of Ravensthorpe to fund the development of the Munglinup Community Playground,' he said.

'Esperance Bay Historical Society will receive $8,193 to build a new website and $16,204 will go to the Eastern Goldfields Squash Racket Association to automate the squash courts at the Ray Finlayson Sports Complex enabling 24-hour public access.

'These projects will help to attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the Goldfields-Esperance region.

'Royalties for Regions is about strengthening and growing our regions and these investments will help regional communities realise their economic potential for the benefit of all West Australians.'

Royalties for Regions will invest $10 million over four years into the Community Chest Fund. WA's nine regional development commissions will oversee the projects.
