Virginia's Second Congressional District runs along the Virginia coast from North Carolina to Maryland. The localities bordering the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay uniformly oppose offshore oil drilling. Economically important industries along the coast are uniformly opposed to offshore oil drilling. There are legitimate concerns expressed by the military about offshore oil rigs negatively interfering with military readiness training. Lastly, I believe the industry has a perception problem along America's coastal communities.

As the congressional representative for the people who live, work and serve in these communities I must listen to them. Further, because of tremendous oil and gas extraction advances, clean energy technologies, and industry's confidence in Trump administration regulatory policies, our country is once again an energy powerhouse. Due to the aforementioned, I do not support oil drilling off the Virginia coast.
