Today, Thursday, January 16, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement commending the Senate passing the bipartisan free trade deal, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), following the House passage in mid-December:

'I commend the Senate for passing this bipartisan deal on USMCA, which will be an incredible boost for jobs across our country and which will bring our trade relationships with Mexico and Canada into the modern era. With those on both sides of the aisle uniting together, along with the White House, the U.S. Trade Representative, labor groups, American workers, farmers, and businesses, this deal has now been passed by both chambers of Congress, and I look forward to the President signing this deal into law swiftly.'

The bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, which Gottheimer co-chairs, has previously called for both sides of the aisle to find a way to unite together behind passage of USMCA. Gottheimer and fellow Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chair Tom Reed (NY-23) recently applauded a deal being reached on USMCA.
