29/01/2016 - The OECD will launch its first ever report on political party funding and election campaign financing to an audience of international lawmakers on Thursday 4 February at 10:30 CET at the OECD Conference Centre. The event is open to the media.
The report shows how political financing regulations vary from one country to the next and examines the regulatory loopholes that can enable powerful private interest groups to circumvent campaign spending rules and influence election outcomes and public policy. It covers 36 countries and includes special case study chapters on Brazil, Canada, Chile, Estonia, France, India, Korea, Mexico and the UK.
OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría and OECD Director of Public Governance and Territorial Development Rolf Alter will present the report to members of parliament and parliamentary officials from OECD and partner countries at a meeting of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network. Legislators will then discuss the findings.
