The National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) and National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) announce the publication of their new official magazine, Clay Target Nation. The monthly magazine will be delivered to a combined 40,000-plus members in print and digital formats beginning in January 2016 and will replace its current separate member magazines.

Clay Target Nation is the realization of our goal to offer our members a new, fresh look at skeet and sporting clays that will help them enjoy and learn more about their sports,” said Michael Hampton, Jr., NSSA-NSCA Executive Director. “While NSSA and NSCA represent different disciplines and separate memberships, skeet and sporting clays have much in common when it comes to good shotgunning. We have many members who shoot both disciplines, including a large and growing youth contingent who are just learning the sports and still determining which to focus on. We believe Clay Target Nation will be a useful tool to them in that process.”

NSSA and NSCA selected Grand View Media of Birmingham, Alabama, to produce Clay Target Nation. Grand View Media is a premier publisher of magazines and online content for the outdoors enthusiast market through its Grand View Outdoors division, including GrandViewOutdoors.com, Bowhunting World, Predator Xtreme, Shooting Sports Retailer, Whitetail Journal, and other titles.

Grand View Media’s Hilary Dyer is serving as editor of Clay Target Nation. As group managing editor for Grand View Media’s outdoor division, Dyer has 13 years of experience editing shooting sports publications. NSSA-NSCA Director of Communications, Sherry Kerr, is the new magazine’s publisher and editorial director. Advertising sales are being managed by Kris Hampton of Synergy Marketing and Advertising.

“We selected Grand View Media to produce Clay Target Nation after an exhaustive search of publishers with a background in the shooting sports,” said Kerr. “Grand View offered the skill and experience we were looking for, plus the best possible editor to develop our magazine, Hilary Dyer. She is an exceptional editor and highly respected among writers and industry professionals. Vice President-Publisher Derrick Nawrocki was also instrumental in guiding us through the process of creating a new publication and getting us to this point, making us certain that Grand View Media was the best publisher for Clay Target Nation.”

“Grand View Outdoors is absolutely thrilled to partner with the NSSA-NSCA in launching Clay Target Nation and bringing an exciting new magazine to the shooting sports community,” said Nawrocki. “We feel this will be the premier shotgunning magazine for those with a passion for skeet or sporting clays, whether novice to master competitor or recreational shooter. We will combine these disciplines into one dialed-in, fresh, and always informative publication that keeps readers coming back for more each and every issue. In this effort, we have the right team in place to get this done at GVO and the support we need from Sherry and her team. We also feel we are in a strong position to leverage our existing media platform not only to promote Clay Target Nation, but also to help grow their audience and membership levels as well as our partnership as we move forward.”

Clay Target Nation is a benefit of membership in the National Skeet Shooting Association and the National Sporting Clays Association. The new magazine features content from many of the world’s best skeet and sporting clays shooters and instructors, as well as shotgunning writers who are well-known from other publications.
