Metro Alloys, Inc., a leading buyer, processor and broker of industrial scrap metals, today announced its inclusion to the ISRI Circle of Safety Excellence, an industry-wide initiative focused on improving operational safety for recycling businesses. Metro Alloys achieved the charter selection alongside an elite list of recyclers, each required to operate its worker safety programs in accordance with industry protocols and benchmark their improvements against other safety-oriented industry leaders.

“Employee safety must be embedded in a recycler’s day-to-day operations to be effective and its importance simply cannot be over stated,” said Metro Alloys President Neil H. Berman. “Our management team is always on top of safety issues and finding ways to improve how our employees can elevate their safety performance.”

Fleet and Safety Director, Bobby Woljevach, has been with Metro Alloys for more than 25 years. “He’s done a superb job working with our managers and employees,” continued Berman, “and we’ve recently added Erin Berman as Metro’s safety coordinator to further our day-to-day management and effectiveness in this area,” he concluded.

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries is a 1,600 member trade association representing processors, brokers, and consumers of scrap recyclables including metals, paper, plastic, glass, textiles, rubber, and electronics. In addition to safety issues, ISRI provides industry direction on environmental, health and other areas essential to recyclers. The Circle of Safety Excellence program enables like-minded companies to share safety data and best practices for the betterment of their own safety operations and the industry at large.
