CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan 23, 2015) -

WHAT: The 2015 Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. Pro-Am Hockey Tournament will return this spring to Calgary featuring many returning and new NHL alumni. This world-class event brings together local hockey players with their NHL heroes for a fun filled weekend focused on raising funds in support of awareness and research for Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias. With over 40,000 Albertans suffering from some form of dementia, the recipient of this year's proceeds is well positioned to support the victims of these and other related illnesses thanks to fundraising initiatives like this year's Pro-Am tournament.
All proceeds from this year's Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. Pro-Am Hockey Tournament will be directed to the Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. (Center for Alzheimer's Research and Education Society) through the Flames Foundation for Life. Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. is a registered not-for-profit society that is seeking to become a leading resource to, and voice for, Albertans suffering from Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and their caregivers.
The funds raised will also help operate the Gordie Howe Center for Dementia Care, currently under construction in south Calgary as part of the Manor Village at Fish Creek Park. Funds raised by C.A.R.E.S. will support research, education and caregiver/patient day support programs offered by the Center.
A media Q&A session will follow the formal announcements regarding the 2015 tournament and this year's fundraising benefactor.
