New classification of the Ukrainian banks came into force from January 1, 2016

Piraeus Bank ICB entered the Group of the Banks belonging to foreign banking institutions according to new criteria approved by Committee on Banking Supervision and Regulation, Payment System Monitoring (Oversight) No. 657, dated December 31,2015.

In accordance with the Committee decision this Group includes the banks which belong to foreign banking groups comprise banks in which majority stakes are held foreign banks or foreign financial and banking groups holding a controlling stake in at least one banking institution. Totally except Piraeus Bank ICB 24 banks entered this Group as of 12.01.16.

Other banks are grouped as following: banks with state participation (banks in which the state holds a stake of more than 75%); group І (Banks accounting more than 0,5% of the total banking system's assets); group ІІ (Banks accounting less than 0,5% of the total banking system's assets).

This classification of banks will be used by the National Bank of Ukraine to present information in performance key indicators of Ukraine's banking sector.
