Shares of industrial and transportation companies ticked up as traders rotated back into cyclical sectors, putting aside fears of rising interest rates.

Boeing shares rallied after Qatar Airways agreed to purchase as many as 50 of the aerospace giants' new 777X freighter jet, launching the plane during a boom in air cargo. Shares of General Electric rose after it received a $6.8 billion order from Qatar Airways for the freighter's engines.

Trucking line Hunt Transport agreed to buy less-than-truckload carrier Zenith Freight Lines for $87 million from Bassett Furniture Industries.
