The first baby to be born at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in 2017 arrived at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, January 1, when Michele Hanson of Earlville gave birth to a girl.

Brynn Cadence Hanson entered the world weighing six pounds and four ounces. She was 19 ½ inches in length at birth.

The child is the first for Hanson and her husband, Brent.

The new mom is an IVCH employee, a systems support specialist in the information systems department. Brent Hanson is a paramedic with the Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service.
